100 Novel Inggris Terhebat dalam Sastra Dunia

Setelah bahasa Inggris masuk ke semua benua dan negara di dunia, bagaimana sastra di Inggris dapat mewarnai dunia?

Surabayastory.com – Novel Inggris telah mempengaruhi bentuk di seluruh dunia selama berabad-abad. Jadi membedah sastra Inggris menjadi penting untuk mendapatkan perspektif global. Berangkat dari itu kemudian dilakukanlah jajak pendapat yang dilakukan oleh kritikus sastra yang tinggal dan bekerja di seluruh dunia, mulai dari Amerika Serikat dan Eropa kontinental hingga Australia, Afrika, Asia, India, dan Timur Tengah.

Beberapa kritikus yang berpartisipasi adalah pengulas buku atau editor di surat kabar, majalah, atau blog sastra. Mereka diantaranya Lev Grossman (Time), Mary Ann Gwinn (Seattle Times), Ainehi Edoro (Brittle Paper), Mark Medley (Toronto Globe and Mail) ), Fintan O’Toole (The Irish Times), Stephen Romei dan Geordie Williamson (The Australian), Sam Sacks (The Wall Street Journal) dan Claiborne Smith (Kirkus Reviews).

Di luar  itu ada para sarjana sastra, termasuk Terry Castle, Morris Dickstein, Michael Gorra, Carsten Jensen, Amitava Kumar, Rohan Maitzen, Geoffrey O’Brien, Nilanjana Roy dan Benjamin Taylor.

Masing-masing yang berpartisipasi menyerahkan daftar 10 novel Inggris. Setiap pilihan mereka untuk novel terhebat, mendapatkan 10 poin. Poin ditambahkan untuk menghasilkan daftar akhir.

Dari 228 novel yang dikumpulkan oleh bbc culture, oleh para kritikus sastra dipilihlah 100 teratas novel terhebat dalam sastra di tanah Inggris.
